Africa Wilderness with a capital W ! Paradise like landscapes, the Kilimandjaro and the Nile, huts and victorian architecture. Africa is a crossroads of civilizations, the land before time. |

Egypt?
So, I know its quiet in advance, but just looking around at the moment.
I will be moving back to South Africa in September and hopefully start work straight away. Im hoping to study next year (what, I have no idea) and want to do a little travel in November.
I was looking at a few places, like India, or closer to home Lesotho or Swaziland. Though my eye is on Egypt.
I will have about 2 weeks to go, and mainly want to go to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.
Are there any other places that shouldn't be missed? I dont want to cram a whole bunch of places in 2 weeks, but have enough time to do the main things.

Mike and Jenny went to Egypt last year they had a good time, so I would get on the horn to them - perhaps on FB if Mike or Jenny don't happen to catch this thread.

ABSOULUTELY GO! Egypt was amazing. We hit the same 3 you've mentioned - Cairo, Aswan & Luxor. There is a TON of stuff to do in and around Cairo.
We took a Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor (they go the opposite way too). From Aswan you can get a tour down to Abu Simbel which, I think, is a must see. If possible, see if you can get there after the tour buses leave. We didn't look into it, but you may consider over nighting there. The tour companies do a mass migration from Aswan to Abu Simbel & everyone gets there at the same time - which is terribly crowded. Still worth it though.
We were there for 10 days which wasn't too terribly rushed. It would have been nice to have a couple more days though.
Check out Mike's travelog on his webpage or the Tpunk thread here
