Africa Wilderness with a capital W ! Paradise like landscapes, the Kilimandjaro and the Nile, huts and victorian architecture. Africa is a crossroads of civilizations, the land before time. |

Tunisia for Easter
So, who has been to Tunisia?
We're planning a trip over Easter, hopefully spending some time with a friend living in Tunis, but she's got lots of other company visiting so we want to have the option of doing stuff on our own. Plus, we can't all stay with her. For her sanity's sake.
So here are the ground rules: 2 adults, 4 kids (aged 4-12) and another on the way. No hiking for me 7 months pregnant!
Half the family can speak some degree of French, I'm functionally literate, the others just have a basic knowledge. No Arabic skills at all, but we have a phrase book!
My husband and I have been to Morocco so have some experience in the region, the older kids have learned about Islam in school so have a general overview of the faith and some cultural exposure through their Moroccan uncle and cousins.
Any thoughts, tips, suggestions, hints etc welcome!

Sorry I can't help with details, but as I mentioned in the other thread, check out the Roman/Punic ruins of Carthage -- they're supposed to be cool. And definitely keep me posted on what you find out. Tunisia is definitely on my list...
And pregnant...?! How many kids are you and the hubby shooting for...? Just kidding, my friend...congrats! I always enjoy reading your travelogs and look forward to the one on Tunisia...

Carthage is definitely on the list, from my Lonely Planet research it sounds like an easy day trip from Tunis. Smaller than might be hoped, from the sound of it, but hey, it's Carthage.
And yes, the family continues to grow! Should add an interesting twist to the travelogue - hopefully I won't have to add any first hand medical experience to the overall store of knowledge on these boards. But at the same time, hopefully our adventures will encourage people that adventure travel doesn't have to stop when kids come along. In some ways, it gets better.
