Oasis Hostel Granada Spain
Note: I tried to post this in the recommended hostels but it redirected me to the Penalty Box (I believe that Lauren had this problem when moving a thread)
The hostel is clean and well located (just on the edge of the Albazyin). It has a rooftop (partial) view of the cathedral. Down stairs there is a kitchen, bar and small common area. The staff is friendly and helpful (they do a 5 euro meal every other day which not a bad deal for the money and they organize a Tapas tour on the other days). I forgot my alarm clock so the staff came up to wake me up each morning so I could catch an 8am bus to a ski resort.
The one fairly substantial downside is that it is a noisy hostel. Not because of everyone partying, it was just the acoustics made for a lot of echoing. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep there. This affected me more than most because I had to get up at 7a. If I could have slept in until 10a those people coming in at 3a would have not been woken me up... heck I probably would have been with them .
A small nitpick: They advertise hot, high pressure showers. You have to choose one or the other. The hot showers are low pressure and the high pressure showers are cold.
Also if you are a single female traveler, the fact that it is in the Albazyin means that you will be going down small winding streets. Apparently a few weeks back a girl got attacked in the surrounding area. The neighborhood is mostly safe but anytime you have winding streets and alleys you have the potential for that sort of thing. There are two entrances to the plaza where the hostel is located. The one off of Carcel Baja (in turn off Gran Via) is the most direct and likely the based way for women to return to the hostel late at night if they have to return solo.
Overall recommended. You can book here.

I travelled there as a single female with no problems. I love all the Oasis Hostels...but this is #3 for me out of all of them.

I second Joe's recommendation. It was a little loud but with ear plugs it was just fine. I really enjoyed the breakfast and the 5euro dinner is really good!

I didn't stay at the oasis in grenada but I went by to see if they had space because i didn't like the place i was staying at nearby. it's difficult to find anything around there but I have to say there were plenty of clear signs showing the way to this hostel. it looked like a really nice place and i was so sad that they didn't have room for me! it's true about the streets being a little sketchy though. very narrow and dark and this american dude that looked like magnum p.i. was totally following me. creep. just keep your wits about ya. I stayed at the oasis in sevilla and it was pretty cool.
