International Posada de Huertas - Madrid, Spain
First off, I only stayed here one night, so I may have had a different impression if I stayed there longer.
Very easy to find, and located within a 10 minute walk to the Prado museum, Parque del Retiro, and Palacio Real. The metro is pretty decent, so you can get to some of the further sites pretty easily. It was a quick metro ride from the Atocha train station. My outgoing train was at the Chamartin train station and that metro ride was a bit longer (about 30 minutes).
I had a 4 person room. The room keys are really weird. They're shaped like watches and they open the door and your locker. The room was not that big, but it was fine.
Internet was free. There was a decent sized kitchen that you could use and they had a basic free breakfast in the morning (toast, cereal, tea, OJ).
The only reason I did not give this a higher rating is because some of the rules seem a bit misleading. They mention that drunk people will not be admitted into the building, and yet, a guy came around to my room to see if I wanted to go on the pub crawl that they run. I'm sure if I stayed for more than one night, I would have experienced more and possibly enjoyed this hostel more. There are definitely supposed to be better party hostels like Cats in Madrid if you're looking for that. If you're looking for a more relaxed evening, this hostel actually might be pretty good. There wasn't much of a common room, so it seemed like it would be harder to meet people unless you were in a room with them.
Overall, this is a decent hostel and if you want a quiet place to stay, this wouldn't be a bad choice.
