I went to america a few years ago for an 8 day holiday via Virgin, and I was very pleased with them. From what i can remember, and I havent been on many flights but it was one of teh best. It was my first long haul flight and I thought it went as well as can be expected, shame not alot can be done about the people near

I dont think there is much between them to be honest, they are probably the two best airlines to fly with long haul. its gonna be comfortable either way.
I would choose based on price and arrival times. theres no point choosing the slightly more comfortable flight if it means that you arrive at a less convenient time.

if you enjoy having a few drinks on the plane and passing out, fly ba. if you are going to be awake the whole flight and want to watch movies, fly virgin. usually the prices for both airlines are within 40 bucks of eachother for flights from major us cities to london.
also, right now ba is doing their 2 free nights in london promotion that is a great deal. you book a flight on ba to europe and they give you a free 2 night stop over in london and 2 free nights at a pretty decent hotel in the city. (i stayed at the kensington close on kensington high street the last time i did this) if you have the funds, i recommend checking it out, it's a nice way to start a trip to europe.
