I was supposed to get the Kingston 2G SD for free after rebate, but I don't know if my rebate will go through - espcially since they already spelt my name wrong in the confirmation email ...I guess the last name NG just doesn't make sense to most people.

Well I bought a 2gb SD card already. Yeah I know I did that backwards. It was $29.99 for a boxing day sale. Thought it was kind of a good deal.

It's like...a post-purchase discount. You pay the full amount first, and then submit a rebate form to the company and get your money back after.

At this point they are more like legalized scams. You usually have to fill out a bunch of forms, send in receipts, proof of purchase certificates and cut off one of your own fingers and then submit the whole thing. Usually they will then notify you 6 months later that you sent the information in the wrong color envelope and so it was denied.

There is a little short user's guide that has all the basics in 8 or 10 pages. Just worry about that one for now.

I need to go back and FIND the manuals for my digi. She's about 4 years old and is one of the fancier looking Coolpix. Problemo is, I use her like a point and shoot. I spent a dream vackay in Israel and S. Jordan, and when I got back to the US for T-Giving, I showed my dad my "trophy" pictures, and he said, "These are terrible quality for the camera you're using..."
So I basically am using this fancy schmancy digi like it's a disposable. (I can just hear that manual film rewind every time I take a pic now.) So I MUST figure out how to use this before I head out for UAE and KL. Plus I want a warmer tone to all my pictures. They just look so cold, and I know that I'm going to some colorful places. Hate to waste it!

Sticking w/ the same brand for upgrades works well for me since I don't have to read the manuals again, everything is instinctive now. Luckily I'm one of those people who actually kind of enjoys reading manuals.
You could always edit your photos on your pc after, too. Some are really simple/automated and you can get warmer tones with the click of a single button!

i have the Canon SD200 (which i'm sure is obselete by now) and i bought it a year and a half ago and it is perfect, its about the size of a deck of cards and fits in my pocket perfectly (which was pretty important for me), has a big screen, lots of pretty pictures, 3.2 megapixels. I'm sure theres some higher rez ones out now, but check out the Canon SD series, no problems at all with mine other than a few scuffs on the screen do to my own stupidity.

I've been really thinking about the SD750. It looks so nice and is quite a bit smaller than my current, A95.

camera or video camera??
Hey guys!
I currently have a 4 mp camera which is a brick and I'm looking to up grade!
But I'm not too sure if I should get a new camera or a video camera. The main reason being I won't to make 4-5 minutes movies and I haven't came across a cemera that has a good mic.
Can anyone offer any advice?

how do you like it so far? I am sort of in the market for a new digital. I have a Nikon Coolpix S1, and I like it a lot -- does videos and all that too... but it's all beat up and worn out... might have to look into getting a similar one

Yeah and its the D40x its even hotter. Nice choice. I'm thinking of getting an SLR but not sure yet. If i ever end up going to Africa, i think that would be the time, especially because of all the wildlife shots i would want to take.
