I am planning a 2 week trip through Eastern Europe / Balkans in September. I was wondering some definate "must see" cities. I have done the whole siteseeing thing through Europe before and will be most focused on hitting up as many clubs as possible. Could somebody recommend some of the better clubs they have been to in this area?

zold in budapest its an open air nightclub open in the summer on the buda hills absolutely amazing, i also like a few of the underground bars as well as the commercial ones such as b7 and banhoff
but zold is by far my favourite |
Budapest has numerous great clubs, and I'd definitely add Krakow also. I don't remember the names of the places, and anyway it depends on your taste, but the hostel employees can inform you on the most popular places.

A good site for anyone travelling to eastern Europe is www.inyourpocket.com. While I normally recommend the hard copies of these bi-monthly mags because they are much more comprehensive, you can get a sample of the content on the website. Once you decide which places you want to go, you can see which cities are covered by the guides, and choose the applicable ones. I'm not much of a clubber, so can't help you with specifics, but these guides are written by locals, and we have found the reviews (of restaurants, accommodations and places to see) very accurate and we always heed the scathing restaurant reviews now - they are spot on! I imagine the ones about the clubs are just as honest.
You can usually buy the guides in airport kiosks, bus and train stations etc upon arrival, which I would recommend for getting the most up to date listings, and they usually run about $2 equiv. in the local currency. The only place we had trouble finding one on our last trip was Bratislava, but we didn't look that hard. :tumbleweed: |
I absolutely LOVE Eastern Europe and the Balkan Region...Last summer I went to Romania and Bulgaria....and let me tell you...BULGARIA IS AMAZING....seriously....Great parties, lots of fun, everyone is very nice and inviting, and the women are INCREDIBLE...most beautiful I've ever seen and I've been to Sweden, Czech, Greece, and many other places....
So anyways, I definately reccommend checking out Sofia, the capital, and other cities alond the Black Sea Coast like Varna.... |

i ended up at it on my first night in budapest with this irish guy i met. On our way to it there was a thunder storm and the heavens opened, we got absolutley soaked. There were girls jumping about in the water that surrounded the little bar hut thing. One of the best nights of my trip, had to buy a new pair of trainers the next day though. |
Belgrade (capital of SerbiA) has a reputation for its nightlife, and with good reason. Unlike in other parts of Europe, there is no day of the week in Belgrade when you cannot have a night out.

I just spent a week in Krakow.
I have been to many many places but I gotta say Krakow just worked its way into my heart and is now on my all time best list. What a magical city, went with a intention of a week of hard hard partying and some sightseeing in mind and let me tell you did that city ever deliver. Everything you dream of going down to make it a time to remember went down. I was pretty crushed to leave. Great nightlife, great sights to spend your hangover days checking out. Lots of history and vibrant people. Met a few of the locals as well and they will be in my mind forever :) |
I have several Polish friends that are not from Krakow but rave about it as being one of the best cities to to visit and party. Budapest and Prague as well.
